Caroline, the photographer

In many ways, photography is all I’ve ever done. I’ve studied it, taught it, and spent over 10 years practicing and refining my style.

Over the years, I’ve dabbled in many genres of photography, including interior design, editorial, and fashion. I’ve got a well-rounded knowledge of different techniques and settings, and can capture gorgeous shots of every detail — from the venue to the dress to your grandmother’s vintage earrings. And, of course, the people.

At weddings, I melt into the background to capture you and your guests at their most relaxed. When you’re not looking, I’ll snap all those special in-between moments you won’t want to forget: the smiles, the laughter, the tears, the hugs.

I like to be as unobtrusive as possible, but I can also engage with guests to coax a smile or wrangle the crowd for group shots. After 10 years of photographing weddings, I’ve learnt how to gently direct people in front of the camera so you and your guests feel relaxed and comfortable rather than awkward and posed.

Your wedding day is for you to enjoy and savour. Sit back and relax (or let your hair down and party), knowing that I’ll be there to preserve the day in all its glory.

Caroline, the person

If I’m going to be at your wedding — one of the most special days of your life — it’s only fair we get to know each other a bit. I’d love to chat over a flat white and a French pastry but, until then, here are some things to know about me.

I live in mid-Canterbury with my wonderful husband, Richard, and two beautiful children, Ivor and Alba. Canterbury is home for us, although we did live and work in Wellington for 10 years and do miss the city life occasionally.

But I’m a country girl at heart. I love getting out into the garden (I’m currently growing dahlias and freesias) and cooking up a storm (if you have tips for making pasta from scratch, please let me know).

We’re in the process of filling our house with ceramics, art, and vintage treasures that make us smile. We’ve always got a renovation project going and draw a lot of inspiration from beautiful interior design.

Finally, I’ll take any excuse to pop open a bottle of champagne — but I promise that’s not the only reason I became a wedding photographer!

Let’s grab coffee and chat about your big day!
